Several members of Fairbanks Lutheran felt the need for a congregation at North Pole. In April of 1975 Lowell Stime was called as Assistant Pastor of Fairbanks Lutheran and organizing pastor at North Pole. The first service there was held on June 15, 1975. On June 7, 1944 Rev. James O. Pederson and Rev. Selmer T. Nelson arrived in Fairbanks to make a survey and to establish a congregation for the Evangelical Lutheran Church. This survey proved to be very promising. The congregation was organized August 18, 1944.
